The Body of Another Israeli Hostage Returned to the Country

The Israeli army and the internal security agency, Shin Bet, announced in a joint statement on Saturday, April 6, that the body of an Israeli hostage who was killed during captivity by the terrorist organization Islamic Jihad was found in Khan Younis and returned to Israel. According to the joint statement, the body of "Elad Katzir" was located based on precise information from the army and Shin Bet and the correct identification by the ground forces of the Israeli army. The joint statement indicates that after Mr. Katzir's identity was confirmed by forensic experts, his family was informed. Elad Katzir was abducted during the terrorist attack on October 7 by militants from the Islamic Jihad group from the kibbutz "Nir Oz." This group attacked simultaneously with Hamas militants. Both groups are supported by the Islamic Republic. This 47-year-old Israeli farmer had said in a video released by the Islamic Jihad group on January 7 of the previous year, "I have been on the brink of death several times. It is a miracle that I am still alive... I want to tell my family that I love them very much and I miss them a lot." Elad's mother, who was also kidnapped by Islamic Jihad during this terrorist attack, returned to Israel on November 23 of the previous year as part of a hostage release agreement. The father of this deceased hostage was killed during the terrorist attack on October 7 at the kibbutz "Nir Oz." The Israeli army and Shin Bet emphasized at the end of their joint statement that they will continue their mission to find and return all hostages to Israeli soil. During the terrorist attack on October 7, Palestinian militants attacked southern Israel, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, while 253 others were kidnapped and taken to the Gaza Strip. Currently, dozens of hostages remain in the hands of Palestinian militants. Following this terrorist attack, Israel launched an offensive on Gaza to destroy Hamas and free all kidnapped hostages. According to estimates from Israeli sources, at least 35 Israeli hostages have been killed in Gaza so far.
