The Death Toll from the Nightclub Fire in Istanbul Reaches 29

A fire at a nightclub in the Besiktas district of Istanbul has left at least 29 dead. The nightclub, which had been closed for Ramadan, was undergoing renovations that officials were trying to complete before the end of the month. It is located on the ground and basement floors of a 16-story residential building in the European part of the city. Davut Gul, the governor of Istanbul, told reporters at the scene that the cause of the fire is under investigation and the victims are likely to be individuals who were working on the renovations. Yilmaz Tunc, the Minister of Justice, stated on 'X' that authorities have detained five individuals, including the managers and the head of the club, as well as the person responsible for the renovations, for questioning.
