The Death Toll in Israel's Attack on Military Positions Near Aleppo Airport Reaches 52

The death toll from airstrikes attributed to Israel against several military positions around Aleppo International Airport, carried out early on Friday, has reached 52. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in the UK, reported that 38 of the casualties were Syrian army soldiers, seven were members of Hezbollah, and seven others were Syrian militants supported by the Islamic Republic. According to this monitoring group on the developments of the Syrian civil war, a Hezbollah missile warehouse near a training center in the 'Jabreen' area, close to Aleppo International Airport, was among the targets of the attack. Military factories in the al-Safira area were also bombed in these attacks attributed to Israel. Hours after these strikes, Yoav Gallant, the Israeli Defense Minister, warned that his country would shift from a defensive posture to actively pursuing Hezbollah, targeting the group's operations in Beirut, Damascus, or any distant location. Since the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, Hezbollah has been conducting near-daily attacks against Israeli army positions in northern Israel and Israeli civilians near the Lebanon-Israel border. In response, Israel has intensified the frequency and number of its attacks on Hezbollah positions and infrastructure in Lebanon and Syria, and contrary to its usual practice, has claimed responsibility for several attacks in Syria. The Israeli army has warned that if Hezbollah does not cease its attacks and withdraw from border areas, it may lead to widespread conflict that could affect all of Lebanon. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that this year, Israel has conducted a total of 28 attacks against positions such as weapon and ammunition depots and command centers in Syria, resulting in the deaths of 114 military and paramilitary personnel and injuring 47 others. Among the casualties are 13 members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, 20 members of Hezbollah, 12 Syrian militants supported by the Islamic Republic, and 9 non-Syrian militants supported by the Islamic Republic.
