The European Union Calls for an End to Iran's Military Assistance to Russia

Enrique Mora, the Deputy Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs of the European Union, announced on Thursday, November 29, that he called for an end to Iran's military assistance to Russia during discussions with two officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mr. Mora stated this on the social media platform 'X', referring to his meeting with Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Kazem Gharibabadi, deputies of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, and mentioned that he told them that the Islamic Republic's nuclear file 'needs a diplomatic solution' and that 'preventing escalation of tensions in the region is important for everyone.' He also noted that he discussed the human rights situation in Iran with these two officials. EU member states and the United States have repeatedly criticized the transfer of drones and ballistic missiles from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia, Iran's role in creating tensions in the Middle East, and the widespread violation of human rights in Iran. They have imposed sanctions against Iranian officials and companies as part of their response. The introduction of the new EU team to the European Parliament, Abbas Araghchi threatened the West: 'If you impose sanctions, we will build a nuclear bomb.'
