The European Union Sanctions News Website 'Voice of Europe' and Two Associated Traders

The European Union has sanctioned the news website 'Voice of Europe' and two associated traders named Viktor Medvedchuk and Artem Marchievsky. The Czech Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that the sanctions against this website, which promotes Russian government policies, and the two traders, are part of ongoing sanctions previously imposed by the European Union. According to the Czech diplomatic service, the sanctions against these two traders include a ban on their entry into the European Union or transit through it by land, air, and sea, as well as the freezing of their assets. The sanctions against 'Voice of Europe' also include asset freezing. This news website has published numerous articles in recent months supporting Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and opposing European support for Kyiv. The headquarters of 'Voice of Europe' moved to Kazakhstan last year after two years of operation in the Netherlands and about four years in the Czech Republic. Since the beginning of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the United States and the European Union have provided extensive financial and military support to Kyiv and imposed several sanctions packages against Vladimir Putin's government and its supporters. New U.S. sanctions against two citizens and three Russian companies have been imposed due to military weapon transfers between Russia and North Korea. The U.S. has sanctioned 300 individuals and entities related to support for Russia in the war with Ukraine. New sanctions have also been imposed regarding the Islamic Republic's drone assistance to Russia.
