The 'Gabriel Munter' Award in Germany to be Presented to Parastoo Farah

The eighth cultural and artistic 'Gabriel Munter' Award in Germany will be presented to Parastoo Farah, an Iranian artist and human rights activist. This award is given in appreciation of works that are 'striking, impactful, and emotional' and has garnered significant attention from the jury members. In a statement released on Tuesday, February 23, they said: 'Parastoo Farah combines personal experiences with social and political reflections in her works. The artist's pieces, often derived from her background and examining issues of belonging and justice, are compelling due to their emotional depth and aesthetic power.' It is further noted that 'Parastoo Farah is honored not only for the remarkable quality of her work but also for the courage and consistency with which she defends freedom, human rights, and intercultural dialogue.' The jury members, consisting of seven prominent cultural and artistic figures from Germany, selected Parastoo Farah from among 1,299 artists after several rounds of evaluation. The 'Gabriel Munter' Award, valued at 20,000 euros, is supported by the Federal Commissioner for Culture and Media of Germany. Claudia Roth, the German Minister of Culture, emphasized the importance of this award, stating: 'The Gabriel Munter Award is a strong sign for the visibility of women in every field of art. By selecting Parastoo Farah, we honor an artist who remarkably combines courage, creativity, and social commitment. Her works are profoundly significant for the world of art and beyond.' The Gabriel Munter Award is presented by the Federal Association of Visual Arts, the Association of Artists and Art Supporters, and the Association of German Artists. The award ceremony will take place on March 10 (11 Esfand) in Berlin.
