Under this bill, federal funding will be secured until September 30, the end of the fiscal year, with an increase in defense spending while non-defense budgets will be reduced. The current budget expires at 11:59 PM on Friday, Washington time. The House's bill has now been sent to the Senate, where its fate remains uncertain. The passage of this bill in the House is the result of months of effort and extensive negotiations. However, Democrats in both the Senate and the House have strongly opposed this bill, accusing Republicans of failing to fund programs such as health care, nuclear non-proliferation efforts, scientific research initiatives, and some aid programs for American farmers.
