According to AFP, François Molins stated that this attacker had attempted twice in 2015 to travel to Syria using a fake identity but was placed under house arrest, and at the time of the attack, he was wearing an electronic tracking bracelet. He mentioned that this bracelet was deactivated for several hours every morning, coinciding with the time of the attack on Tuesday morning. The anti-terrorism prosecutor stated that Adel Karimi was arrested in March 2015 when he tried to go to Syria using his brother's identification card in Munich, and two months later, he was arrested in Turkey for using his cousin's card. Images of this attacker from 2011 show him wearing a hat with the Algerian flag. Mr. Molins added that the police are in the process of identifying the second attacker. The mentioned attackers were killed by the police. Meanwhile, a family friend of Adel Karimi told the Associated Press that he has a brother and a sister, with the sister being a doctor in Rouen. His mother is also a university professor. The family of this attacker had warned authorities about their son's radical tendencies and the need to prevent him from going to Syria. A police official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that Adel Karimi was under house arrest for attempting to go to Syria and had an electronic bracelet, but he was free for five hours a day to leave the house without tracking. This attacker was required to report to the police every day. In the attack on Tuesday, the attackers targeted a church in the Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray area in northern France, where the throat of an 84-year-old priest was slit.
