The Islamic State has executed '3027 people' in Syria over the past year

According to a report, the group known as the 'Islamic State' has executed over 3,000 people in Syria in the past year since declaring its self-proclaimed caliphate in areas under its control in Iraq and Syria, with more than half of them being civilians. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in London and in contact with news sources inside Syria, states that from June 19 of last year, the number of executions carried out by 'ISIS' that this organization has recorded has reached 3027. Among these individuals, 1787 are civilians, including 74 children. Members of the Sunni 'Shaitat' clan make up nearly half of these civilians. According to this report, these individuals were executed last year in 'Deir ez-Zor.' The 'Shaitat' clan, residing in 'Deir ez-Zor' in eastern Syria, is estimated to number up to 70,000. The head of this clan, Sheikh 'Rafiq Akleh,' had called on Syrian tribes last year to join the fight against the 'Islamic State.' Among the executed are a group of residents from the predominantly Kurdish city of Kobani, which 'ISIS' has recently re-entered. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports that at least 223 people were executed in Kobani in the past week. Nearly 900 of the executed armed individuals were from pro-Assad forces, and 216 were from rebels opposing Assad and the 'Islamic State,' as well as Kurdish forces. On the other hand, this group has also executed 143 of its own members, many of whom were individuals attempting to escape the group and were captured and executed. Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights states that 8,000 members of the self-proclaimed Islamic State have also been killed in battles or in airstrikes by the US-led coalition. This group declared its self-proclaimed caliphate in areas it has seized in Iraq and Syria a year ago. Chuck Hagel, the former US Secretary of Defense, described the threat from this group as 'imminent,' characterizing its organization as highly structured and 'beyond what we have seen.' In this context, the 'Islamic State' has massacred at least 145 civilians in Kobani, released a video of drowning and burning people, and attacked the city of Kobani again.
