The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic Executed at Least Eight Prisoners in Five Cities in Iran

News and human rights sources reported that the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic executed at least eight prisoners in various cities in Iran, including Qom, Karaj, Babol, Sanandaj, and Kermanshah. According to a report by the Iran Human Rights Organization on Wednesday, December 13, judicial officials executed a prisoner related to 'drug-related charges' in Qom Central Prison. The prisoner was identified as Abolfazl Abdolmaleki. Simultaneously, the Kurdpa news agency reported that on Wednesday morning, a prisoner named Davood Khademi, from Marivan and a father of two, was executed for 'murder' in Sanandaj Prison in Kurdistan Province. Additionally, Iranian state news agencies, including ISNA, reported that the Judiciary executed a male prisoner accused of killing Abbasali Soleimani, a member of the Assembly of Experts, who had been imprisoned since May of this year, in Babol Prison in Mazandaran Province. In another report, the Iran Human Rights Organization announced that a prisoner named Hamid Bakhshaei was executed for 'murder' in Ghezal Hesar Prison in Alborz Province. This human rights organization cited 'informed sources' indicating that this executed prisoner was 'possibly a juvenile offender.' The Hengaw account also reported on the social media platform X without details that one person was executed in Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah. The Kurdpa news agency also reported on Wednesday that two prisoners named Amin Zakeri Kakavand from Harsin and Khalil Hajiabadi from Kangavar were executed for 'drug-related charges' in Karaj Central Prison. The Hengaw organization reported that along with the execution of these two citizens, the Judiciary also executed another prisoner named Rahim Amiri from Harsin. On Tuesday, Voice of America reported that following the postponement of the execution of Samira Sabzian, a child-bride accused of murdering her husband, she was returned to the general ward of Qarchak Varamin Prison. Meanwhile, the director of the Iran Human Rights Organization emphasized that the one-week postponement of this prisoner's execution did not eliminate the risk of execution, noting that previously 'the government has often moved the prisoner back to the gallows after reducing sensitivity following the return of the prisoner to the ward and the announcement of the postponement of the execution, and executed the sentence.' Mahmoud Amiri Moghaddam also told Voice of America that the Islamic Republic is the only country that executes even children.
