The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic Executes Two Prisoners Accused of 'Murder' in Kermanshah

Human rights sources reported that two prisoners named Daniel Kazemi Nejad and Khalil Jamali were executed on Sunday, July 31, in Dizelabad prison in Kermanshah by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic. According to the Kurdpa website on Tuesday, August 1, Daniel Kazemi, 30 years old and from the village of 'Lar' in the Islamabad Gharb County of Kermanshah province, was sentenced to death for the accusation of 'murdering a Basij member.' The website Hrana, the media organ of human rights activists in Iran, also reported that Khalil Jamali from Sarpol-e Zahab County in Kermanshah province was executed on the same day in Dizelabad prison. The judiciary of the Islamic Republic had sentenced this citizen to death for 'premeditated murder' related to a case from two years ago. According to Hrana's report, the execution of these two prisoners has not yet been announced by prison officials and the judiciary. According to a report from the previous day by the Iranian human rights activists, four prisoners related to drug offenses were also executed on the morning of Sunday, July 31, in Qazalhasar prison. The identities of three of these executed prisoners were reported by Hrana as 'Davood Barahoui, Saeed Mohammadpour, and Mehdi Ali Akbari,' and based on this report, the fourth prisoner was also an Afghan national. Previously, a group of political prisoners in various prisons of the Islamic Republic, who are on a hunger strike weekly in a campaign called 'Tuesdays Against Execution' in protest against the issuance and implementation of death sentences in Iran, called for the joining of political and non-political prisoners in prisons across the country to this joint human rights action and demanded that 'the demand against execution become a national demand.' They also warned about Ali Khamenei's statements regarding the necessity of ignoring the principles of human rights, considering these statements by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic as a precursor and a 'serious alarm' regarding the expansion of human rights violations by the Islamic Republic. According to a previous report by the Iran Human Rights Organization, the number of executions by the Islamic Republic in the first six months of this year was at least 249 people, including 10 women. Based on these statistics, in the past six months, 14 people were executed on security charges such as 'espionage for Israel,' and 147 others for drug-related offenses.
