The Mahsa Law Implemented with the Signature of the U.S. President

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, implemented the 'Mahsa Law' on Wednesday, May 5, by signing it. This law was enacted as part of a national security supplemental package that was approved by Congress on the evening of Tuesday, May 4, and was executed after being sent to the White House and signed by the U.S. President. The U.S. Senate had overwhelmingly approved the 'Mahsa Law', short for the 'Accountability for Human Rights and Security of Mahsa Amini Act', on Tuesday. The 'Mahsa Law', which is part of the provisions of the four-part national security supplemental budget bill, includes billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, and mandates the U.S. President to impose sanctions in the form of visa bans and asset seizures for foreign citizens linked to Iran. Under this law, Ali Khamenei; the leader of the Islamic Republic, Ebrahim Raisi; the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and related entities will be sanctioned due to 'human rights violations' and 'support for terrorism'. With the approval of this national security package in the U.S. Senate, sanctions from the 'SHIP' law will also be implemented against financial resources resulting from the Islamic Republic's oil transactions. According to the 'SHIP' law, ports, ships, and refineries involved in the transactions of Iran's sanctioned oil products, which are considered a source of significant profit for the Islamic Republic, will be sanctioned. The goal of the recent national security package passed in the U.S. Senate, which includes four separate bills, is stated to be countering the threats posed by the Islamic Republic, China, and Russia. These bills include $61 billion in aid for Ukraine against Russia, $26 billion in aid for Israel against hostile Palestinian and regional actors, and over $8 billion in aid for Taiwan to counter China's actions. The fourth bill includes funding for banning the 'TikTok' application, facilitating the transfer of seized Russian assets to Ukraine, and new punitive measures against the Islamic Republic, known as the 'Mahsa Law'. Joe Biden, the President of the United States, stated shortly after signing this supplemental budget that 'today is a good day for America, Europe, and for true global peace' and 'is fruitful.' He noted that 'this law includes vital support for Israel' and referred to the fact that ten days ago the Islamic Republic of Iran 'launched over 100 missiles and drones at Israel', calling this attack 'unprecedented'. He emphasized that his commitment to Israel is 'ironclad' and that Israel's security is very sensitive. He stated that the U.S. always wants to ensure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself against Iran and its terrorist proxies. According to the U.S. President, 'with this aid, the United States can help Israel by filling its air defense arsenals and ensure that Iran cannot cause devastation and carry out similar attacks to those conducted ten days ago.' He also stated that simultaneously this bill includes 'one billion dollars' in humanitarian and life-saving aid for innocent people in Gaza who are suffering as a result of what Hamas started, including 'food aid, medical supplies, and drinking water'. The U.S. President also praised the 'extraordinary courage' of Ukrainians in defending their homeland, referring to the two-year 'relentless campaign' of Russia against Ukraine, and noted that Ukraine's defensive equipment was 'running out'. He stated that Putin's friends are supplying Russian equipment. He said, 'Iran provides drones and North Korea provides ballistic missiles, while China supplies parts and technology to strengthen Russia's defense production, and with this support, Russia has intensified its airstrikes against Ukraine's critical infrastructure and is dropping this munitions on brave Ukrainians defending their homeland.' The U.S. President, thanking the support of Congress and Senate representatives, emphasized: 'Everything we do is aimed at bringing these hostages home and achieving a ceasefire and creating conditions for lasting peace.' He stated that this law 'makes America safer and makes the world safer and continues America's leadership role in the world' and 'this package provides vital support to America's partners so they can defend themselves against threats to their national security and the lives of their citizens. This package is also an investment in our own security. Because when our allies are stronger, we are stronger.' Joe Biden noted that following reports of the passage of this bill, 'a roar of joy rose from the Ukrainian trenches', emphasizing: 'Now America wants to provide Ukrainians with the equipment they need to keep them in this war.' He also stated that he wants to ensure 'this munitions is sent within hours for air defense and missile and artillery systems in Ukraine. This package is an investment not only in Ukraine's security but also in Europe's and our own security.'
