The Majority of the U.S. House of Representatives is Also Held by Republicans

While the counting of votes in the U.S. House of Representatives elections is still ongoing and the fate of several seats remains unclear, Republicans have reached the threshold of 218 seats, achieving their primary goal in this election. According to the latest statistics released, the Democratic Party has so far secured 208 seats in the House of Representatives, with the status of 8 other seats out of 534 not yet determined. Regardless of the remaining seats, with the Republican Party achieving at least 218 seats, the leadership of this House will also be under the control of this party, just like the Senate. The presence of at least 52 Republican members in the Senate has also been confirmed, while the fate of one seat in Pennsylvania remains uncertain. Given the confirmed Republican majority in both chambers, this party will hold the presidency and both houses of Congress. The tax cut law, which is referred to as one of the greatest achievements of the previous Trump administration, as well as Joe Biden's one trillion dollar law for U.S. infrastructure, were both passed during periods when their respective parties held majorities in both houses of Congress. Considering the presence of six conservative Supreme Court justices, three of whom were appointed by Trump during his previous presidency, the Republicans now effectively control all three main power institutions in the United States. Thus, Donald Trump will not face significant challenges in advancing his agenda, neither in the dual chambers nor even in the Supreme Court.
