The Number of Dengue Fever Cases in Iran Approaches 200

An official from Iran's Ministry of Health announced the identification of over 184 cases of 'Dengue Fever' in the country as of September 9. According to him, 'most' of these patients have traveled abroad. Shahnameh Arshi, head of the Center for Disease Management, stated this news in an interview with the ISNA news agency on Friday, September 14. He mentioned that based on the Ministry of Health's investigations, 131 of the patients have a history of travel to the United Arab Emirates, 9 have traveled to Pakistan, one has traveled to Oman, and one has traveled to Benin. The Iranian Ministry of Health has not yet reported any potential infections among Iranian pilgrims at the million-strong Arbaeen ceremony in Iraq, which was attended by Shia from various countries including Pakistan, but it provides detailed information on the number of patients traveling to other countries. The risk of a 'Dengue epidemic' in Iran; the number of patients has increased to 152. Arshi also reported 42 cases of local transmission, of which 11 were identified in Bandar Lengeh in Hormozgan Province and 31 in Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. According to reports provided by this health official, one of the patients is of African nationality, four are Afghan, three are Pakistani, and 34 others are Iranian. The head of the Ministry of Health's Center for Infectious Diseases also reported that the death toll from Dengue Fever in Iran remains 'one,' as it was last month. Dengue Fever, transmitted by a mosquito called 'Aedes,' is also known as 'breakbone fever' and has symptoms such as high fever, headache, body aches, pain behind the eyes, nausea, and skin rashes.
