The Number of Detainees Related to the Taftan Armed Attack Reaches 14

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the detention of 10 more individuals identified as 'agents' involved in the Taftan armed attack that resulted in the deaths of 10 police force members. The Quds Headquarters in Southeast Iran had previously stated that four of these individuals were arrested, and as a result of clashes between law enforcement and this group, four were killed, and 'several were injured and fled.' Ahmad Shafaee, the deputy of the Quds Ground Force Headquarters, stated on Tuesday, November 15, that a total of '14 terrorists have been arrested and 8 have been killed' during the 'Guardians of Security' exercise in southern Sistan and Baluchestan since last week. He emphasized that the 'main elements' of the Taftan armed attack, which led to the deaths of 10 police members, are among those detained. Shafaee also reported the seizure of 'significant amounts of weapons and ammunition, including American weapons from these individuals.' On November 5, the Sistan and Baluchestan police announced that 10 soldiers and personnel from the Gohar Kooh police station in Taftan were killed in an armed attack. The Tasnim news agency, close to the IRGC, reported that this incident occurred during an attack on 'two patrol units on their way back to the police station.' Jish al-Adl claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, alleging that these forces had 'raided the homes of locals who were protesting the government's policies' and attempted to 'intimidate the local population from pursuing their demands' by detaining some. Armed clashes involving opposition forces against the Islamic Republic in Sistan and Baluchestan have a history, with a significant number of casualties on both sides during these confrontations. This militia group, opposing the Iranian government, is recognized as a 'terrorist organization' by the Islamic Republic and several Western governments, including the United States.
