The Passing of Farimah Farjami; 'Mahmanir' Joins 'Mother', 'Jalaluddin', and 'Mohammad Ibrahim'

Farimah Farjami, a renowned Iranian cinema actress who became memorable for her role as 'Mahmanir' in the film 'Mother' directed by Ali Hatami, passed away on July 9, 2023, leaving the earthly stage. This veteran actress of cinema and television had been in a coma for the past two months following a period of illness. Following her death, the Iranian Actors Guild and the Central Council of the Cinema Actors Guild expressed their condolences to her family and colleagues. Farimah Farjami was born on May 7, 1952, in Tehran. She studied dramatic arts and graduated in 1977. She began her voice acting career in radio plays in 1976 and made her professional film debut in 1980 with the film 'He Said All Three of Them' directed by Gholam-Ali Delfan. In 1981, she acted in the film 'Red Line' directed by Masoud Kimiai and had a continuous presence in cinema until the 2000s, with her last cinematic work being in the film 'Laminor' in 2019. In 1990, at the age of 38, she received the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the film 'The Last Curtain' directed by Varouj Karim-Masihi. Her television works include the series 'Surgery Section Four' directed by Masoud Foroutan in 1988 and 'Brighter than Darkness' in 2003. Farimah Farjami fell into a coma following two strokes and ultimately passed away on the evening of July 9, 2023.
