The Passing of Gholamreza Afkhami, Senior Social Sciences Researcher; Prince Reza Pahlavi Expresses Condolences

Gholamreza Afkhami, a senior researcher and director of social sciences and international studies at the Foundation for Iranian Studies, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 1403, in the United States. He was the husband of Mahnaz Afkhami and had been a visiting researcher at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, conducting research on revolution, war, peace, development in the Third World, U.S. relations with Middle Eastern countries, and the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Gholamreza Afkhami was a professor of political science and head of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at National University of Iran (now Beheshti University) from 1966 to 1978. This prominent researcher was the Secretary-General of the National Committee for the Global Fight Against Illiteracy before the 1979 Revolution, which was chaired by the late Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Prince Reza Pahlavi, in a social media post, expressed his condolences over Gholamreza Afkhami's passing, referring to him as a 'distinguished researcher and pro-Iran writer' who 'dedicated his life to research at the Foundation for Iranian Studies.' Prince Reza Pahlavi added, 'Dr. Afkhami's works and research, with an impartial and fair view of Iran's history, can be a valuable guide for the younger generation seeking a brighter future for our homeland.'
