The Responsible for the Peshawar School Massacre Killed in US Drone Strike

The Pakistani army announced that the person responsible for the 2014 attack on a school in Peshawar, which resulted in the deaths of over 150 people, was killed in a US drone strike. General Asim Bajwa, the spokesperson for the Pakistani army, tweeted on Wednesday, July 13, that the command in Afghanistan confirmed the death of Umar Narai, a terrorist known as Khalifa Umar Mansoor or Khalid Khurasani, as a result of a drone strike in Afghanistan. The Associated Press also reported that one of the US army generals confirmed the death of Khalifa Umar Mansoor, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban, in a phone call with the commander of the Pakistani army. Mansoor, known as Umar Narai or Khalid Khurasani, had claimed responsibility for the attack on the school in Peshawar, which was one of the bloodiest events in Pakistan. In this suicide attack, which occurred in late December 2014, over 150 people were killed, most of whom were children. Following this event, Pakistani security forces arrested several Taliban militants, some of whom were executed. Umar Narai also organized an attack on the Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in late January 2016, which left 21 dead. The Associated Press noted that Pakistani media had reported earlier this week about a drone strike against Taliban militants in eastern Afghanistan. In this context, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the Lahore explosion, stating that 'Christians were the target.' Ashraf Ghani warned Pakistan about the 'continued hosting of terrorists.' The US strongly condemned the Taliban's attack on the school in Peshawar.
