The Roosevelt Task Force Enters the Area Covered by the U.S. Fifth Fleet

The U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, announced on Friday the arrival of the Theodore Roosevelt task force, including the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, in the area covered by the U.S. Fifth Fleet. According to the statement, the arrival of this task force in the CENTCOM area is aimed at preventing aggression, promoting regional stability, and protecting the free flow of commerce in the region. The U.S. Fifth Fleet is responsible for protecting U.S. interests in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the two strategic straits of Hormuz and Bab-el-Mandeb, as well as parts of the Indian Ocean, with its current center located in Bahrain. The destructive actions of the Iranian government and its proxy groups against commercial vessels in the Fifth Fleet area in recent years have led to increased instability and insecurity in the region, prompting greater convergence between the U.S. and its European and Middle Eastern allies to counter these actions and ensure the security of international shipping. Among these destructive actions are the seizure of several oil tankers and commercial vessels in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman by the Islamic Republic, as well as the repeated attacks by Iran-backed Houthis on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The oil tanker released by the Islamic Republic is en route to the port of Sohar, Oman. The U.S. military stated that the Houthi attack in Azar on a Norwegian ship was carried out using an Iranian missile. The Houthis, supported by the Iranian government, are suspected of attacking another ship in the Gulf of Aden. The Houthis claim that in their attack on Monday against a cargo ship, they used a 'new ballistic missile.'
