The Sit-In Protest of Representatives, Mohsen Younesi - 2004-02-05

After the disqualification of about one-third of the current members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly by the Guardian Council for participation in the seventh elections, these representatives staged a sit-in in the parliament and a few days later took a political fast. Certainly, if one or several of their representatives were to be removed from the parliament, it would not significantly affect the merchants, the market, or the general public, as everyone wonders why they did not protest when their people-oriented bills were rejected by the Guardian Council or when the ruling body auctioned off Iran without their knowledge through contracts related to nuclear energy and bribery involving the children of officials from European countries. Now, when their interests are at stake, they speak of the people's rights, raising their hands to the sky and calling for miracles. It has been rumored that domestic circles in European countries have expressed concern over these profitable contracts for their countries, fearing that if the ruling body in Iran is overthrown, the Iranian people will not engage in any economic exchange with these countries and will demand many things. If these gentlemen had even one hundred-thousandth of these contracts beneficial to the Iranian economy, surely the merchants, government employees, and military personnel would not have shown up at their workplaces in a symbolic protest against the Guardian Council's oversight and qualification determinations! In general, people are tired of these puppet shows! This will be a lesson for representatives who wish to enter the seventh parliament under the name of reformists, so they do not follow the path of confusion, compromise, and humiliation like the representatives of the sixth term. Several actions must be taken for this purpose: First, regarding the supervisory oversight and removing the Guardian Council from the qualification determination cycle. Second, by taking actions to organize the economic environment of the country and prevent its looting through their oversight. Third, to prepare the ground for reaching June 15, 1215, which is the essence of the republic of the system.
