The Thousandth Day of Russia's Invasion of Ukraine; G7: Moscow is the Only Obstacle to Peace

Reuters reported that the leaders of the seven major democratic countries (G7) reiterated their commitment to imposing severe costs on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine and the occupation of parts of the country in a statement issued on Saturday, November 26. The statement included measures such as imposing further sanctions, export controls, and other necessary actions, as well as continuing support for Ukraine for as long as needed. In this statement, released on the occasion of the thousandth day of Putin's invasion of Ukraine, they described Russia as the only obstacle to establishing a fair and lasting peace and reaffirmed their strong solidarity with Ukraine. The G7 consists of the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy, which currently holds the rotating presidency. Russian forces began their invasion of their western neighbor on February 24, 2022, despite repeated warnings from Western countries and false statements from Russian officials denying the possibility of such an attack. Over the past years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has effectively supported this invasion by providing suicide drones and ballistic missiles to Russia. Western countries, led by the United States, have provided extensive financial and military support to Ukraine and imposed extensive sanctions against Russia and the Islamic Republic. There is a possibility of the European Union sanctioning the shipping of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Zelensky's criticism of the German Chancellor's dialogue with Putin, and Russia stating that it is ready for peace negotiations with Ukraine if Trump initiates them.
