The Trial of Sharifeh Mohammadi, Imprisoned Labor Activist, to Be Held on June 10

Reports indicate that the trial of Sharifeh Mohammadi, an imprisoned labor activist, will take place on June 10. According to the Telegram channel "Bidar Zani," Ms. Mohammadi's trial is set to occur in the Revolutionary Court of Rasht, approximately six months after her arrest. This labor activist was detained on December 5 of last year by agents of the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Intelligence in Rasht and was transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Office after 20 days. During her time in the Sanandaj Intelligence detention center, reports of her physical abuse and torture emerged. In a note published on the Instagram pages of her husband, Siros Fathi, and the campaign "Free Sharifeh Mohammadi," she reflected on the "hard and heavy" hours she endured over the past six months, mentioning the beatings during her detention, solitary confinement, the pain of being away from her child, and the deprivation of in-person visits with her family. This imprisoned labor activist wrote that "there were hours in these six months that were hard and heavy for me, but I never looked back. When the interrogation papers were slammed on my bruised face, when I was transferred from solitary confinement to the general ward after three months, or when I embraced my dear Aydin after three months, and when I saw Siros during the first visit after solitary confinement, tears streamed down his face upon seeing my smiling face." Ms. Mohammadi was transferred to the Lakan Prison in Rasht on February 28. According to this report, she has been accused of having connections with the Komala Party. Typically, the security and judicial apparatus of the Islamic Republic accuses labor, professional, and political activists of connections to opposition organizations or hostile countries. These accusations have always been denied by detained activists. Nevertheless, the Revolutionary Courts have sentenced detained activists to prison, exile, lashes, and other punishments based on these accusations.
