The U.S. Announces Collaboration with Allies to Design a 'Unified Strategy' in Response to Actions of the Islamic Republic

The National Security Advisor of the U.S. President stated that the United States government is collaborating with leaders from both parties in Congress, the G7 countries, and other allies to design a comprehensive response as a 'unified retaliatory strategy' in reaction to the recent airstrike by the Islamic Republic on Israel. According to the White House, Jake Sullivan said in a statement on Tuesday that the aim of this action is to hold the Islamic Republic accountable for its malign and destabilizing actions, emphasizing the U.S. commitment to 'taking action' alongside global allies and partners, as well as Congress. The White House indicated that new sanctions targeting the Islamic Republic's missile and drone programs, along with additional sanctions against entities supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Ministry of Defense, are forthcoming, and the U.S. government expects allied countries to swiftly pursue their own punitive measures. The National Security Advisor also noted that efforts are underway to strengthen regional defense mechanisms in the Middle East and 'integrate air and missile defense systems' to more effectively counter the Islamic Republic's offensive capabilities. Jake Sullivan emphasized that the upcoming sanctions and initiatives represent a 'sustained effort' to reduce military capabilities and comprehensively address the Islamic Republic's destructive behavior. Over the past three years, the United States has sanctioned more than 600 individuals and entities linked to terrorism, financing terrorism, human rights violations, and support for terrorist and proxy groups of the Islamic Republic, such as Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and Kata'ib Hezbollah in Iraq. Recently, Jake Sullivan responded to a question regarding Washington's readiness to counter a potential retaliatory action by the Islamic Republic in light of the April 1 attack attributed to Israel against its consulate in Damascus, stating that Washington's support for Israel is 'ironclad.' The U.S. expressed concern over the potential retaliatory attack by Israel and its consequences. Israel welcomed the European Union's move to impose further sanctions against the IRGC and the Islamic Republic. The White House welcomed the Speaker of the House's proposal to assist Israel and Ukraine but stated that action must be taken quickly. Following an emergency meeting in Brussels, the European Union initiated a plan to expand sanctions against the Islamic Republic. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee supported dual bills against the Islamic Republic, calling for an end to Iranian terrorism. Senator James Lankford called for the revocation of the Islamic Republic's Foreign Minister's visa to the U.S. The U.S. Treasury Secretary stated that sanctions will be used to disrupt the destabilizing activities of the Iranian government.
