The U.S. Condemns Rocket Attacks by Iranian-Linked Militias on Its Embassy and Facilities in Iraq

The spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State issued a statement condemning the rocket attacks on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad on Thursday night and the attacks today on facilities hosting American personnel. The statement said: "Militias linked to the Islamic Republic, which operate freely in Iraq, threaten the security and stability of Iraq, as well as U.S. personnel and partners in the region, and Prime Minister Sudani rightly called these attacks 'terroristic.'" The U.S. Department of State called on Iraqi security forces to immediately address these attacks and arrest those responsible to bring them to justice. Matthew Miller noted: "The Iraqi government has repeatedly committed to protecting diplomatic missions as well as U.S. military personnel present in the country at Iraq's invitation. This matter is non-negotiable, just as we have the right to self-defense."
