The U.S. President Visits Britain to Strengthen Relations

The White House announced that Joe Biden, the President of the United States, will travel to Britain, Lithuania, and Finland next week. The trip is scheduled from July 9 to 13. He will first meet and discuss with the King of Britain, Charles, and the Prime Minister of Britain, Rishi Sunak, in London. The White House stated that these meetings are "to further strengthen the close ties between our nations." John Kirby, the National Security Council's Strategic Communications Coordinator, told Voice of America that "the President is eager for this trip because Britain is considered our strongest ally in many ways." Kirby mentioned that the President will discuss topics such as the war in Ukraine with Prime Minister Sunak and environmental challenges and climate actions with King Charles. After stopping in London, Biden will travel to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and then to Helsinki, the capital of the newest NATO member, Finland. The U.S. President will then attend the 74th NATO summit, which will be held from July 11 to 12, amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The White House also stated that Biden will visit Helsinki on July 13 to meet and discuss with leaders from Northern European countries. The First Lady of the United States referred to the coronation of the King of Britain as a historic moment, and Joe Biden congratulated King Charles III on his coronation. The King of Britain stated that Parliament is "the breathing apparatus of our democracy."
