The U.S. Warns Its Citizens About Travel to Europe

On Monday, May 1, the U.S. Department of State warned its citizens about traveling to European countries, stating that Americans should remain vigilant regarding the ongoing threat of terrorist attacks across Europe. According to Reuters, the State Department emphasized that groups like the Islamic State, ISIS, and Al-Qaeda 'still possess the capability to carry out terrorist attacks in Europe,' referencing attacks in France, Russia, Sweden, and the UK. The State Department had previously issued a warning before the winter holidays and is now reiterating concerns about potential terrorist attacks as the summer holidays approach. It has advised U.S. citizens in Europe to avoid crowded places and to exercise caution when using public transportation and attending large events. Meanwhile, British police announced on Monday that they had arrested three young women in East London as part of an ongoing anti-terrorism operation following arrests made last Friday. According to London police sources, the three women, two of whom are 19 and 18 years old, have been accused of attempting to prepare for a terrorist operation. The British police stated that they had arrested six individuals in London and Southeast England after uncovering a terrorist plot and had also injured another suspect by gunfire. Following a recent terrorist attack near the British Parliament, where a man killed four people by driving his car onto the sidewalk, security measures in the UK have been heightened. In this context, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the shooting in Paris.
