Third Case Filed in Prison; Revolutionary Court Sentences Shakila Monfared to 'Imprisonment and Exile'

Following the fabrication of charges in prison against Shakila Monfared and the rejection of her appeal, the Islamic Revolutionary Court sentenced this political prisoner to '15 months of imprisonment and exile,' along with other supplementary punishments. According to the report by HRANA, the media organ of human rights activists in Iran, on Wednesday, February 21, the ruling issued by Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court for this political prisoner remained in effect after rejecting Shakila Monfared's appeal. Based on the ruling issued by this court, Shakila Monfared, in addition to the 15-month imprisonment, has been sentenced to 'exile outside Tehran and the provinces of advisors, prohibition of leaving the country, prohibition of membership in social and political groups, and prohibition of using a smartphone.' An informed source told HRANA that the 'hearing session for the charges' against Shakila Monfared, which was held in a joint case with Narges Mohammadi 'in late Azar' on the charge of 'propaganda against the regime' in Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran presided over by 'Iman Afshari,' was issued 'in absentia' at that time. The appeal session for Shakila Monfared was held 'in late Bahman' in the same branch, and the ruling was communicated to this political activist in prison on Tuesday, March 1. This is the third case that has been opened against Shakila Monfared, a constitutionalist political prisoner who has been continuously imprisoned since Bahman 1399. Shakila Monfared, a 30-year-old citizen residing in Tehran, was arrested by the Islamic Republic agents on September 1 of that year while leaving her home and was transferred to a detention center of the IRGC Intelligence Organization. After the completion of the interrogation, she was taken to Evin Prison and released on September 24 after posting a bail of 400 million tomans until the court date. In previous cases in 1399, this political prisoner was sentenced to four years of definitive imprisonment on charges including 'propaganda against the regime and insulting Islamic sanctities.' Then in 1400, while imprisoned, she was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison on the charge of 'membership in opposition groups,' and in Khordad 1402, she was tried on the charge of 'conspiracy and collusion to commit a crime against national security,' which was closed with a 'no prosecution' order.
