Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor of the White House, referred to the threats posed by the Islamic Republic and its supported militia groups and called for the immediate approval of U.S. financial aid to Ukraine and Israel. On Wednesday, February 14, during a press conference, he urged the Republican majority in the House of Representatives to quickly pass the Senate bill regarding additional financial aid for Ukraine and Israel. Sullivan described the Senate's approval of the supplemental national security agreement as a significant step in advancing the core national security interests of the United States, emphasizing that this bipartisan legislation meets Israel's needs for self-defense against 'Hamas terrorists' and other terrorist threats. According to Sullivan, this financial support helps complete Israel's air defense system, preparing the country against threats from Iran and its supported militia groups such as Hezbollah. He also stated, 'This aid provides the necessary resources for our forces in the Middle East facing Iranian attacks, for supported militias continuing the important mission of defeating ISIS, and for our forces protecting international trade in the Red Sea against ongoing Houthi attacks.' This U.S. security official also regarded the new additional financial aid bill as a means to continue U.S. and allied support for the Ukrainian people's struggle for freedom and independence. The new bipartisan Senate plan for increasing immigration control at the U.S.-Mexico border and providing financial aid to Ukraine and Israel has faced opposition from Republicans in the House of Representatives. This plan, which also has the support of President Joe Biden, includes $20 billion for border security, $60 billion for supporting Ukraine in its war with Russia, $14 billion in aid for Israeli security, and $5 billion for U.S. allies in the Indo-Pacific region.
