Threats of the Islamic Republic in Latin America; Marco Rubio: What is Biden's strategy?

Marco Rubio, senior Republican senator and member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, referred to President Ebrahim Raisi's upcoming trip to Latin American countries next week on Twitter, asking, "What is Biden's strategy to counter the Islamic Republic's threats in Latin America and the Caribbean?" The senator addressed President Joe Biden, stating, "Mr. President, the bloodthirsty regime of Iran, responsible for the execution of tens of thousands of political prisoners in Iran in 1988, will soon begin a tour of the Western Hemisphere to meet with the leaders of drug-supporting and criminal regimes." Previously, Senator Rubio had told Fox News that the growing presence of the Islamic Republic in the Western Hemisphere should not be surprising, as the Biden administration has a history of appeasement and engagement with authoritarian governments. The Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee added, "Tehran's ability to expand its military presence in our hemisphere is a wake-up call, as this country seeks to support leftist Marxist regimes that will undermine peace and stability throughout the region." Iranian news agencies reported that Ebrahim Raisi will travel next Sunday to Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba at the official invitation of his counterparts to continue the policy of strengthening relations with allied and friendly countries and to enhance economic, political, and scientific cooperation. It has been stated that during Raisi's trip to Latin America, several cooperation documents will be signed in various fields between Iranian officials and these three countries.
