Three Civil and Social Activists Sent to Prison in Tehran and Sanandaj

Human rights sources reported the execution of prison sentences for three civil and social activists in Tehran and Sanandaj. According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Siamak Ebrahimi and Shahrokh Ahmadi, social activists, were sent to Evin Prison on Wednesday, February 7, to serve their sentences. Siamak Ebrahimi was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison on charges of 'conspiracy and collusion with the intent to commit a crime against national security' and 'propaganda against the regime,' of which five years is enforceable. Shahrokh Ahmadi was also sentenced to four years in prison on the charge of 'conspiracy and collusion with the intent to commit a crime against national security.' According to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Asad Mohammadi, known as Masoud Mohammadi Qasrian, a civil activist from Sanandaj, was also arrested on Tuesday, February 6, to serve a one-year prison sentence and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison. This civil activist, who was arrested at his home in August of this year and temporarily released on bail, has been accused of 'propaganda against the regime.' The Kurdistan Human Rights Network previously reported that about three weeks after the arrest of this civil activist, his wife, Bahar Ahmadi, was also arrested on August 12 and transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Department detention center. Pressure on civil and political activists in Iran has increased in recent months. On Tuesday, February 6, Iranian government agencies also arrested at least five civil activists in four provinces of Iran. According to reports from human rights sources, in the first month of this year, Iranian government agents arrested at least 152 people, including 12 women and one child.
