Three Death Row Protesters from the 'Isfahan House' Case Appeal to the Public: Don't Let Them Kill Us

Majid Kazemi, Saleh Mirhashimi, and Saeed Yaqoubi, three protesters facing execution, have issued a plea for help from within the Dashtgerd prison in Isfahan. In a handwritten message shared on social media on Wednesday, May 17, they referred to themselves as 'the children of Iran' and wrote: 'We ask our dear fellow citizens not to let them kill us. We need your help. We need your support.' The families of these three death row inmates also released a joint message on Twitter stating: 'Our hopes rest on you. They called out to you and asked you not to let them kill us.' Mohammad Hashemi, a cousin of Majid Kazemi, tweeted on Wednesday that the National Security Council has instructed that this case be resolved tonight. Saeed Yaqoubi's mother also stated in a video message that they were given a 'final visit' and urged the public to support the condemned protesters. A photo of Saleh Mirhashimi's father was shared on social media, showing a handwritten note stating, 'My son is innocent, he had no weapon.' A source informed Voice of America on May 13 that officials had told Majid Kazemi's family that the three detained protesters would be executed within 'the next two or three days.' In the late hours of Sunday, Prince Reza Pahlavi warned of an 'immediate danger' and called on the public to gather outside the Dashtgerd prison alongside the families of Majid Kazemi, Saleh Mirhashimi, and Saeed Yaqoubi, stating: 'Let us not allow the young-killing Zahhak and his agents to take more innocent lives and leave more mothers in mourning.' As concerns grew over the imminent execution of these three protesters, a number of people gathered outside the Dashtgerd prison in Isfahan in the early hours of Monday. Images of security forces using tear gas and shooting at protesters outside the prison where these three death row inmates are held have circulated on social media. Although the execution did not take place that day, according to the handwritten message, Majid Kazemi, Saeed Yaqoubi, and Saleh Mirhashimi remain at risk of execution.
