Three Great Poets of Iran in the Gathering of Kiwan Saket

The host of this program is Kiwan Saket, a composer, orchestra conductor, and tar player. He established the Vaziri music group about 20 years ago in Tehran and has performed many works with this group. So far, around 10 albums have been released by him, including 'Sharq Anduh', 'Didar Sharq va Gharb', 'Jameh Daran', and 'Mitravad Mahtab'. He has held numerous concerts in Tehran and other cities in the country as well as abroad with the voice of Salar Aghili and other young singers. Mr. Saket believes that the Iranian tar and setar have great capabilities, and he has performed many works of Western classical composers such as Mozart and Johannes Brahms with these instruments. He began his serious professional career by participating in the Aref group as a tar player at the invitation of Parviz Meshkatian but later formed his own music group. He has published several books on teaching tar and setar. Mr. Saket lives in Tehran, and I have spoken with him over the phone. Kiwan Saket is asked about which five personalities he would invite to dinner. He mentions six figures: first, the great poet Abolqasem Ferdowsi, second, Omar Khayyam, third, Jalal al-Din Rumi, fourth, the great music master Ali Naqi Vaziri, and fifth and sixth, he considers Ahmad Shamlou and his mother. He ultimately chooses to invite his mother due to her significant influence on his artistic development. Saket discusses the importance of Ferdowsi in preserving the Persian language and culture, Khayyam's philosophy of seizing opportunities, and Rumi's revolutionary thoughts on love and spirituality. He praises Vaziri as the father of modern Iranian music and highlights his mother's contributions to his life and education.
