Three More Individuals Arrested in Connection with Manchester Explosion

British police announced on Wednesday that they have arrested three more individuals in connection with the explosion in Manchester. According to a police spokesperson, these three were arrested on Wednesday in South Manchester. Previously, another 23-year-old individual had been arrested. British security services believe that Salman Abedi, the perpetrator of the suicide attack on May 22 in Manchester, could not have carried out this operation without the help of others. Amber Rudd, the UK Home Secretary, stated that Salman Abedi, 22, was under surveillance by security services prior to the bombing near the concert of American pop singer Ariana Grande. Salman Abedi, born in Manchester, had Libyan parents. Reports indicate that his family has returned to Libya. Salman Abedi was previously a business student but turned to extremism after dropping out. Following the suicide bombing, the Islamic State (ISIS) identified him as one of their 'soldiers.' Gerard Collomb, the French Interior Minister who is cooperating with the UK on this case, mentioned that Salman Abedi 'probably' traveled to Syria and Libya before radicalizing. According to the French Interior Minister, Salman Abedi's connection to ISIS is 'established.' The Manchester attacker constructed a simple explosive device packed with metal pieces and detonated it among individuals exiting Ariana Grande's concert. This attack resulted in 22 deaths and dozens of injuries. In the UK, the government has raised the security status to the highest level possible, and army soldiers have been deployed to assist police in securing public places.
