Three Prisoners Executed in Qom and Ahvaz

According to human rights sources, at least the death sentences of three prisoners have been carried out in the cities of Qom and Ahvaz in recent days. The Hengaw Human Rights Organization reported that on the morning of Tuesday, November 8, 1403, the death sentences of Ali Mostafavi and Hossein Ali-Malaki, both 38 years old and from Malard, Tehran province, were executed in Qom Central Prison. According to Hengaw, these two prisoners had been detained three years ago and sentenced to death for the 'premeditated murder' of a man. The Iran Human Rights Organization also reported that on the morning of Saturday, November 12, 1403, a prisoner was executed in Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz. Reports indicate that this prisoner had been detained about a year ago on charges of 'murdering' one of his friends 'following a verbal altercation' and was sentenced to death by the judicial authority. Hengaw reported on Friday, November 11, that at least 161 prisoners were executed in Iran last month, marking a more than 100% increase in executions compared to the previous month, and noted that October was the deadliest month for executions this year. According to Amnesty International, 74% of recorded executions worldwide last year were carried out by the Islamic Republic. Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, reacted to the execution of Jamshid Sharmhad last Monday, stating: 'The execution of prisoners by the Islamic Republic is a fundamental violation of their human rights, and the U.S. has repeatedly stated its opposition to it.' A protest gathering of a group of Iranians was held in front of the German Embassy in Washington against the execution of Jamshid Sharmhad and political prisoners. Hengaw: At least 161 prisoners were executed in Iran within a month. Six prisoners were executed in Qazalhasar Prison in Karaj in eight days.
