Times: Iran Seeking Air Corridor Instead of Ground Route through Syria to Aid Hezbollah

According to the Times newspaper, the Iranian government, having lost its ground route through Syria due to the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, is considering establishing an air corridor to Lebanon to assist its supported group, Hezbollah. The British newspaper notes that this would violate the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah. An anonymous regional source told the newspaper that negotiations are ongoing in Tehran regarding this matter. This source stated that Western countries are 'concerned that since the [Iranian] government has lost [Damascus] as its airport in the region for arms smuggling, it is now trying to turn Beirut airport into its new logistical center like Syria.' They claim that such a move 'could lead to increased tensions.' Israel has stated that it will enforce the agreed-upon ceasefire conditions in Lebanon by force if necessary. The country has intercepted cargo flights from Iran to Lebanon, which it suspected were carrying weapons for Hezbollah, and forced them to return.
