Toumaj Salehi Denies Lawyer's Statements from Prison; After Six Months of Pain, a Doctor Was Brought

Toumaj Salehi's account on the social media platform 'X' published a message denying the statements of 'Roza Etemad Ansari', his lawyer. In the message, Salehi stated: 'After six months of reporting tooth pain, following weeks of insomnia, fever, and shivering from pain due to the unavailability of any tools, I performed a root canal on my own tooth using a wire, a mask, salt, and immense pain.' The message, first shared by 'Afrasiab', another rapper, mentioned that 'three days later, the authorities kindly sent a doctor to fill the same tooth.' Salehi's account, managed by his relatives, emphasized that 'it seems the news from Toumaj's imposed lawyer comes from a source other than Toumaj, and instead of striving to uphold his rights, they are attempting to console and whitewash the violations of the interrogators.' This response from Salehi came after one of his lawyers spoke to Shargh newspaper, stating that 'his health condition is stable, he is in regular contact with his family, and has weekly visits.' Roza Etemad Ansari told 'Shargh Network' that 'between the first and second sessions of Toumaj Salehi's trial, he reported severe tooth pain, which was treated following the court president's orders and the prison officials' follow-ups. Salehi himself stated in the second session of his trial that his tooth pain had been treated.' This lawyer also noted the latest condition of Salehi's leg, asserting that 'prison officials are pursuing necessary actions for his leg surgery.' According to this lawyer, 'Toumaj has been continuously undergoing medical check-ups since the day he was in public ward.' The lawyer's claims arise amid reports from Salehi's account on X on September 20, which also mentioned injuries from 'brutal torture' that this imprisoned rapper has suffered and called for his immediate treatment. The message stated that 'the physical injuries inflicted on Toumaj Salehi remain untreated and without medical attention.' Salehi was arrested last November after supporting protesters and was sentenced to six years and three months in prison in a 'non-public' court for charges including 'corruption on earth', 'propaganda against the regime', and 'inciting people to murder and unrest.' Shabnam Khosravi, Salehi's cousin, recently emphasized the need for medical attention for this imprisoned protester in an interview with Voice of America. The 'Global Music Awards' recognized him in August this year for his song 'Fal', awarding him in the protest music category. The spokesperson for Amnesty International USA called for the release of Toumaj Salehi and other political prisoners. Iqbal Iqbali, Salehi's uncle, stated that the Islamic Republic has no connection with Iran and its people. The latest status of Toumaj Salehi in prison shows he remains in good spirits but requires medical attention.
