Toumaj Salehi's Account: They Want Him to Stay in Prison with 'Baseless Accusations' and 'Case Fabrication'

Toumaj Salehi's account, the imprisoned protest rapper, protested against a 'new case fabrication' against him related to one of his previously released music videos in a message on the social media platform 'X'. This account, managed by one of Salehi's close associates, pointed out that this new case fabrication was 'crafted with baseless accusations to create a legal facade and justify his continued detention'. Amir Reisiian, one of Salehi's lawyers, stated on Wednesday, August 24, in an interview with 'Shargh Network' that despite Salehi's acquittal from the charge of 'corruption on earth' and the issuance of a non-prosecution order for other charges, he remains in prison due to the formation of a new case regarding one of his songs. He added that the formation of this case regarding one of Salehi's songs and the charges of 'insulting the sacred' and 'inciting chaos and unrest' against this government critic have led to his continued imprisonment. Reisiian noted that Salehi's lawyers have not yet been allowed to enter this new case. The account of Toumaj Salehi stated that the new accusations are 'so illogical and unsupported' that due to technical and legal deficiencies in the case, they have not been referred to court, and even Salehi's lawyers have not been allowed to review them. The account added that 'the political perspective and factional interests of the judicial officers, and the baselessness of the accusations created by their disturbed minds, have been proven, and the outcome of this new case fabrication, like previous cases, is completely clear and evident.' Another part of the message stated that 'the recent case related to the song Typhus' should be closed as soon as possible so that 'Toumaj Salehi can return to the embrace of his large family in peace and continue his physical treatment.' The account emphasized the need to end the 'adventurism of the judiciary, judicial officers, and the security system of Isfahan province', which, according to this message, has brought 'the entire judicial apparatus and the intelligence and security structure of the Islamic Republic to disgrace, incompetence, and injustice.' This account also addressed the violent arrest, beatings, torture, solitary confinement, detention without reason, and baseless accusations against Toumaj Salehi, stating that ultimately, out of 10 'fabricated' charges in the 1401 case against this protest rapper, eight were deemed 'unnecessary, lacking legal basis, or unverifiable' by the judiciary, and a final acquittal or non-prosecution order was issued. It was also noted that two other charges against Toumaj Salehi have been referred to the general court and 'it seems' that there too it will lead to an acquittal or non-prosecution order. The message continued, stating that 'all that arresting, beating, torture, solitary confinement, psychological pressure, and nearly two years of imprisonment of Toumaj Salehi has been carried out without legal backing and for committing no criminal act, merely for speaking, writing, and freely expressing his opinions.' Amir Reisiian, one of Toumaj Salehi's lawyers, told 'Shargh Network' on Wednesday that Salehi's acquittal from the charge of 'corruption on earth' in the 1401 case by Branch 5 of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court means the annulment of the death sentence issued against him. According to this lawyer, based on the Supreme Court's rulings regarding the inclusion of Toumaj Salehi's charges in the announced amnesty in 1401, Branch 5 of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court issued a non-prosecution order for the charges of 'inciting and provoking people to war and slaughter', 'insulting the leadership', 'propaganda against the regime', and 'gathering and colluding against security'. The hearing for the 1401 protests case of Toumaj Salehi was held on August 21 in Branch 5 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Isfahan. Meanwhile, Ye Wanri, a member of the German parliament and political sponsor of Toumaj Salehi, issued a press statement on Wednesday regarding the recent court ruling, stating: 'Even if this is good news for Toumaj, the ping-pong game between the courts again shows that the Iranian regime is far from the rule of law.' He emphasized the need for Toumaj Salehi's release, noting that court rulings are 'issued and revoked without any legal basis' and added: 'The regime ignores human rights.' This German parliament member stressed that they are 'carefully monitoring' the regime's policies and stated: 'My goal is to have all the false accusations' against Toumaj Salehi dismissed. 'We will not settle for anything less and continue to demand Toumaj's freedom.'
