Trump: America Stands with the Iranian People in Their Brave Fight for Freedom

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, on Tuesday, January 30, in his speech to Congress regarding the state of the nation, criticized the nuclear deal with Iran once again and stated that America stands with the Iranian people in their fight for freedom. The main part of Donald Trump's speech focused on outlining the political and economic achievements of his administration over the past year. In part of his speech, he stated: 'As we strengthen friendly relations with the world, we also clearly enlighten about our enemies.' He continued regarding the recent protests in Iran: 'When the people of Iran rose up against the crimes of the corrupt dictator regime, I did not remain silent. America stands with the Iranian people in their brave fight for freedom.' Tehran and over 100 cities in Iran witnessed protests against the economic situation and government policies for a week in early December of this year. In these widespread protests, harsh slogans were directed against the leaders and domestic and regional policies of the Islamic Republic. At least 25 people were killed and thousands were arrested during these protests. Donald Trump had emphasized on December 30 that protesting citizens in Iran were fed up with the corruption of the regime. The U.S. President also stated that he has asked Congress to address the fundamental flaws of the terrible nuclear deal with Iran. Donald Trump, a critic of the nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers, has repeatedly described this agreement as the 'worst' deal in U.S. history. On January 11, he extended the suspension of nuclear sanctions against Iran 'for the last time' and urged Washington's European partners to address the 'flaws' of the deal. In 2015, Iran and six world powers, including the U.S., U.K., France, China, Russia, and Germany, reached an agreement to limit Iran's nuclear program. In the continuation of his speech, Donald Trump referred to the achievements in the battle against the Islamic State group, stating: 'I proudly say that the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS has liberated almost 100% of the territory controlled by this group in Iraq and Syria.' He emphasized that the battle against terrorism will continue. Donald Trump also pointed to the challenges facing America on the international stage, stating: 'Around the world, we are confronted with rogue governments, terrorist groups, and rivals like China and Russia that challenge our interests, economy, and values.' The U.S. President called for an increase in the country's defense budget to face these challenges. In the beginning of his speech, Donald Trump addressed the achievements of his administration over the past year, stating: 'Unemployment in the country has reached its lowest level in 45 years. I am proud to say that the unemployment rate for African Americans has reached a record low, and unemployment among Hispanic Americans has also reached its lowest level in history.' The U.S. President also emphasized: 'As I promised the people here 11 months ago, we have enacted the largest tax reform in U.S. history.' Donald Trump insisted that the new tax law will benefit everyone, including families. He also called for support from Democrats and Republicans in Congress for his immigration reform plan, which has four main components, one of which pertains to immigrants under the so-called 'DACA' program. Donald Trump specified that the immigration reform would pave the way for granting citizenship to 1.8 million individuals who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children with their parents. 'DACA' relates to hundreds of thousands of individuals who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children and are now on the verge of deportation.
