Trump and Clinton Campaign's Reaction to Vote Recount in Wisconsin

Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, has described the recount of votes from the November 8 election in Wisconsin as 'ridiculous' and a deception of public opinion. Hillary Clinton's campaign, the Democratic nominee, stated that although there is no evidence of hacking in the vote counting system, they will participate in the recount in Wisconsin. Previously, on December 5, the Wisconsin electoral board agreed to recount the votes cast in the state to investigate the possibility of foreign hackers manipulating the presidential election results. Wisconsin was one of the key states in determining the outcome of the U.S. election, alongside Michigan and Pennsylvania, where Mr. Trump won against his rival, Ms. Clinton. Shortly after the election results were announced, which Hillary Clinton accepted, Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, launched a campaign to raise funds for a recount in Wisconsin and other states. Ms. Stein claims that the number of absentee ballots in Wisconsin shows a significant increase and that the vote counting system may have been hacked. Donald Trump, who had not reacted specifically to these efforts in recent days, has broken his silence, calling it ridiculous and a deception of public opinion. The President-elect emphasized in a statement that his Democratic rival accepted the results and congratulated him, asserting that his victory in the electoral votes was 306, the best result for a Republican candidate since 1988. He noted that his victory in 9 out of 13 states that determined the main result and in a total of 30 out of 50 states was the best result since Ronald Reagan's victory in 1984. On the other hand, Mark Elias, a lawyer for the Clinton campaign, stated on the Medium website that the campaign has received 'hundreds of messages, emails, and phone calls' requesting that something, anything, be done regarding the allegations raised. The Washington Post quoted Elias as saying that the Clinton campaign has found no legally actionable evidence of fraud or hacking in the vote counting system, but they have taken steps regarding this matter and will participate in the recount requested by Jill Stein. Mr. Trump, on the other hand, claims that Jill Stein's efforts, as a candidate who received less than one percent of the votes, are primarily to raise funds, most of which will not be spent on the recount. Fox News reports that Trump and his campaign remained silent on this issue until the Clinton campaign became involved in the recount process, focusing instead on the election and government transition. Reports indicate that even if all three states—Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania—accept the recount, the chances of a change in the final result are 'very low.'
