On Friday, January 28, he wrote on Truth, his social media platform, that according to weather forecasts, the temperature in Washington D.C. on Monday could be very cold, and "I do not want to see any harm or injury to people in any way." The last time a U.S. President's inauguration ceremony was held inside the Capitol building was during Ronald Reagan's second term in 1985. Inauguration ceremonies for U.S. Presidents are typically held outdoors in front of the Capitol with the presence of tens of thousands of citizens, but the interior of the Capitol, known as the Rotunda, is always prepared as an alternative. According to the Associated Press, due to the capacity limitations of the Rotunda, even if attendees at this year's ceremony stand shoulder to shoulder like in 1985, only the current President, members of Congress, and a limited number of guests will be able to attend Trump's inauguration closely. Reports indicate that over 250,000 people have purchased tickets to watch the swearing-in ceremony around the Capitol, and tens of thousands more were expected to be along the parade route from the Capitol to the White House. In recent days, workers have been setting up tens of thousands of chairs in the outdoor area near the Capitol, known as the National Mall. According to Donald Trump, his supporters can watch the inauguration on screens in the indoor venue "Capital One," which has a capacity of about 20,000. He also stated that other events, including the Sunday parade and Monday evening ceremonies, will proceed as scheduled without changes. The National Weather Service has forecasted a temperature of 22 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 6 degrees Celsius) for noon on Monday during the swearing-in; this would be the lowest temperature on an inauguration day since Ronald Reagan's swearing-in at 7 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 14 degrees Celsius). In 2009, the temperature during Barack Obama's inauguration was 28 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 2 degrees Celsius). Donald Trump's second term begins on Monday. The Associated Press reminded that the Rotunda, where the inauguration is to be held, was overtaken by his supporters during the January 6, 2020, attack, and the outdoor area in front of the Capitol was the site of some of the most violent clashes between attackers and police.
