Trump Calls Allegation of 'Obstruction' a 'Fabrication'

On Thursday, June 15, he responded on Twitter to a report by the Washington Post which stated that the President is under investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for 'obstruction of justice' in the case of Russian election interference. Trump labeled the report as 'fabricated' and emphasized that since they have no evidence, they have brought up this 'obstruction of justice' story. In recent days, quotes from figures close to Donald Trump surfaced, suggesting the President's decision to fire Robert Mueller, who had only recently taken over the investigation into this case at the direction of the Justice Department. However, the White House denied these quotes, while also reserving the right for the President to make such a decision. The controversy surrounding potential Russian interference in the recent U.S. elections and the investigation of members of Donald Trump's campaign escalated with the firing of James Comey from the FBI. Democrats argue that Comey's dismissal was aimed at covering up the FBI's investigation. The Washington Post also reported that Robert Mueller aims to determine whether Trump attempted to obstruct justice by firing Comey. Trump, however, views these accusations as stemming from the 'mental conflicts' of those who raised them. He tweeted: 'You are witnessing the most biased examples of political persecution in American history, led by a group of very bad people with mental conflicts.' Previously, James Comey stated that Donald Trump is not the subject of the FBI's investigation.
