Trump Criticizes Media Again in Speech in Florida

The President of the United States criticized the media once again during a speech in Florida, adding that he will choose his national security advisor "in the coming days." Donald Trump also emphasized the need to create a safe zone in Syria and other places for war refugees, stating that the costs will be borne by the Gulf Arab states. In his speech on February 19 in Melbourne, Florida, Trump reiterated many of his statements from the presidential campaign, both during the primaries and the general election. According to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, a significant part of his speech that attracted media attention was the 45th President of the United States' criticism of the media itself. He accused "dishonest media" of spreading fake news about his administration. He added that he wants to communicate directly with the people "without the filter of fake news." Just hours before this speech, the President had also criticized the mass media, stating that those who publish "fake news" are "the enemy of the American people." In his speech in Florida, he also mentioned that he will choose his national security advisor "in the coming days." Michael Flynn, the former advisor, resigned at Trump's request following reports of his phone call with the Russian ambassador after the Obama administration imposed sanctions on Moscow due to allegations of "cyber interference" in the election campaign. After Flynn's resignation, the President criticized the "illegal leaking" of information regarding him. Sean Spicer, the White House spokesperson, stated that Keith Kellogg, the current acting national security advisor, John Bolton, the former U.S. ambassador to the UN, General McMaster, and General Robert Caslen are among those being considered by the President, who is set to meet and discuss with them in Florida. Trump also reiterated his desire to establish a safe zone in Syria for the secure resettlement of refugees, claiming that this plan keeps potential terrorists away from American soil. Trump stated, "We want people who are great for our country... we do not want people with bad ideas." The President also mentioned that Gulf Arab states can cover the costs of creating the safe zone.
