Trump: Now We Want to Focus on American Society

The elected President of the United States, in his first speech after the victory ceremony in the elections, stated that "globalization is good" but America must primarily "focus on its national community." Donald Trump, on December 2nd in Cincinnati, Ohio, said, "We seek peace and balance with the nations of the world. But this means respecting the right of every country, including our own, to care for its citizens." He added, "One of the reasons we have become divided is that our government has failed to protect the interests of the American people and their families. What has caused us to see ourselves as separate groups rather than a unified whole?" In another part of his speech, the elected President of the United States said, "We spend a lot of time looking at what separates us." He then added, "Now is the time to gather around one thing that unites us: America. Because when America is united, everything is achievable." He also condemned "bigotry and prejudice" and stated, "We condemn any form of hate-mongering and strongly avoid using the language of division and separation. We have no other choice." Mr. Trump also criticized the media and some politicians in his speech: "The media said for months that there was no way Trump could get past the blue wall." His reference to the "blue wall" pertains to states that predominantly vote for the Democratic candidate. The majority of residents in many states in America almost always support one of the two Republican or Democratic candidates. The fate of the U.S. elections is practically determined in states where it is unclear until the last moment which candidate they will vote for. However, in the recent elections, the electoral votes of three predominantly Democratic states, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, went to Trump. The election of the 45th President of the United States took place on November 8, following a competition between its two main candidates, Hillary Clinton from the Democratic Party and Donald Trump from the Republican Party. Almost all major polls before the election indicated Mrs. Clinton's superiority. The election of the President of the United States is conducted indirectly, and the votes of individual citizens do not necessarily determine the outcome. In this election, the electoral votes of each state that the majority of its citizens vote for a candidate are allocated to that candidate. Depending on the population and the number of representatives each state has in the House of Representatives, the electoral votes of each state also differ from one another. As a result, it is possible for one candidate to receive more popular votes than another candidate - for example, in the recent election, Mrs. Clinton received more popular votes - but another candidate may obtain the necessary electoral votes and reach the presidency. Trump's presidency will begin in the third week of January 2017.
