A reporter at the conference held in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, asked Trump, 'The last time you were here, you were asked about a preemptive strike on [the Islamic Republic] of Iran to prevent the construction of nuclear weapons,' noting that at that time, Donald Trump did not provide a clear answer. The reporter insisted on the legitimacy of the question and pressed for a response, to which Trump replied that he would not answer such a question because 'it is a military strategy,' emphasizing that he would not discuss military strategies. Trump dismissed the legitimacy of the question, stating, 'Only a fool would answer such a question.' Earlier, Voice of America published a summary of a report from the American newspaper Wall Street Journal on Sunday, January 6, stating that the next U.S. administration under Donald Trump plans to increase sanctions against the Islamic Republic as part of its aggressive efforts to curb the support of the ruling clerics in Iran for militia groups in the Middle East. According to that report, Trump's team is considering airstrike options to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from developing nuclear weapons before his official inauguration on January 20. Iranian officials have previously claimed they are not seeking to produce nuclear weapons. However, following failures in missile attacks on Israel and during strikes from two Israeli air raids on various sites in Iran, as well as heavy blows received by Hamas and Hezbollah, there has been talk of a potential 'change in nuclear doctrine.' Trump's remarks came as military forces in Iran began a military exercise using what they called air defense systems. An Israeli committee stated that Trump's return presents an opportunity to confront the Iranian regime. The ban on the entry of U.S.-sanctioned oil tankers to ports in Shandong Province, China, was also noted. Macron stated that the Iranian regime is the most significant security challenge in the Middle East and Europe. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump's team is working on new sanctions and options for attacks against the Islamic Republic.
