Trump Responds to Rouhani's Remarks: He Should Be Careful

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, reacted on Friday, February 11, to statements made by Hassan Rouhani, the President of Iran, saying, "He should be careful." According to Fox News, the U.S. President responded to reporters' questions on his private plane on Friday evening. One reporter asked Trump, "What is your response to Hassan Rouhani who said today that anyone who threatens Iran will regret it?" Trump replied, "He should be careful." The latest round of verbal warfare between Iranian and American officials began following Iran's ballistic missile test after Donald Trump's administration took office. In continuation of these confrontations, Rouhani stated on Friday during the anniversary of the revolution at Azadi Square in Tehran: "Anyone who threatens our nation and armed forces should know that our nation is united and aware and will stand against the malevolent." He added, "Anyone who speaks to this nation with the language of threats will make the Iranian nation regret it." Following Iran's missile test, American officials have warned the country to be cautious in its behavior and actions. Meanwhile, Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, stated on February 8 that Donald Trump wants to scare Iran, but Tehran is not afraid of "threats." In response, Sean Spicer, the White House spokesman, said, "Iran is fooling itself if it thinks a new president has not come into office." Spicer added, "The Ayatollahs will understand that a new president has arrived. This president will not sit idly by while Iran creates fissures in the joint agreement (JCPOA) with its violations, but will take appropriate actions." Previously, Donald Trump had also warned the Islamic Republic not to "play with fire" regarding Iran's missile tests, and Vice President Mike Pence stated that "the Islamic Republic should not test the seriousness of the new U.S. president."
