Trump: There is no way I will withdraw from the election

The Republican presidential candidate in the upcoming U.S. election, following the release of a controversial video of his remarks about women, states that he will not withdraw from the election process under any circumstances. Donald Trump's comments come as dozens of prominent Republican Party members have called for him to step aside. On October 9, Mr. Trump stated, "I will never withdraw. I have never given up in my life." In an interview with The Washington Post, which published the recent controversial video, he added, "I won't let go. I have broad support." In a separate interview with The Wall Street Journal, he said the likelihood of him withdrawing from the election is "zero." He also mentioned on his Twitter that the pressures for him to withdraw are coming from the media and the ruling establishment, but he "will never disappoint his supporters and will never withdraw." The Washington Post released a video that captures part of Mr. Trump's conversation in 2005, recorded during the filming of "Days of Our Lives." In it, Donald Trump talks about relationships with women, stating that "when you are a star... you can do anything you want with them." He then discusses his unsuccessful attempt to sleep with a married woman. After the video, the Republican candidate issued a statement apologizing for his remarks: "This was a private conversation in a locker room that happened years ago. Bill Clinton said worse things to me while playing golf. If anyone is offended by these remarks, I apologize to them." However, reactions against the video have not only come from his Democratic rival's campaign, and it is not only his opponents on the other side of the American political scene who have voiced their objections. Republicans have also criticized these remarks. For instance, Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, condemned Mr. Trump's comments and canceled his appearance at a campaign event on Saturday. However, unlike those calling for Trump to exit the election, he did not suggest such a thing. The Republican nominee's running mate, Mike Pence, neither condemned nor defended these remarks but stated that Trump will have the opportunity to express "what is in his heart" in the upcoming debate against Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee. The two main rivals in the U.S. presidential election will face each other for the second time on Monday morning, Tehran time, for a debate.
