Trump Warns Iran About Adherence to the 'Nuclear Agreement'

The President of the United States has warned Iran to adhere to the nuclear agreement; otherwise, it will face 'big problems.' Donald Trump stated on August 3 during a public speech in Youngstown, Ohio, that if it is confirmed that Iran has not complied with the agreement, it will face very significant problems. This is something I can tell you. The U.S. President then added, 'You might think they said, 'Thank you, America. We really love you.' Instead, they have become bold. This is not something that will continue like this.' On July 17, the Trump administration informed Congress that Iran has remained compliant with the nuclear agreement and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, but added that it has acted contrary to the 'spirit' of it. Following this confirmation, sanctions against Iran were also approved. Shortly after the Trump administration's report to Congress, U.S. media reported that the confirmation was issued reluctantly by Trump. According to a report by Foreign Policy on July 21, citing three sources 'close to the White House,' Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with his Secretary of State regarding the nuclear agreement and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The U.S. President has asked 'a group of trusted White House staff' to prepare a 'potential case' to prove Iran's non-compliance with the text of the JCPOA within the next 90-day deadline. Trump himself said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday regarding the nuclear agreement made between Iran, the Obama administration, and five other world powers, 'We will talk about this in 90 days, but I would be surprised if they remain compliant.' The U.S. government must confirm Iran's commitment to the nuclear agreement every 90 days. Tehran claims it is adhering to the nuclear agreement with six world powers, and this compliance has been confirmed in reports by international inspectors. However, the United States accuses Tehran of acting contrary to the spirit of the JCPOA. At the same time, it states that Tehran is violating UN Security Council Resolution 2231 by testing ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Resolution 2231, which was adopted after the nuclear agreement was reached, calls on Iran to refrain from developing ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Iran, on the other hand, emphasizes the defensive nature of its missile program and its lack of intent to build nuclear weapons, asserting that the tests do not contradict the nuclear agreement since the missiles are not fundamentally designed to carry nuclear warheads. Trump's opposition and dissatisfaction with the negotiation process and the agreement have been reflected multiple times. On the other hand, Obama and his administration described the nuclear agreement as 'historic' and stated that the world would be 'safer' because of it. Two years have passed since the nuclear agreement between Iran, the U.S., Germany, France, China, Britain, and Russia.
