Ted Cruz also did not provide a clear answer to this question. Both Trump and Cruz have the best chances of being nominated as the final Republican candidate for the 2016 presidential election. Trump currently holds the most delegate votes. Competitors will soon enter the campaign for crucial states from New York (95 votes out of 848 remaining) to California (172 votes). Last year, Republican candidates pledged to support whoever is chosen as the final nominee at the party's national convention. During a Q&A session on CNN, Trump was asked if he still stands by this promise. He responded, "No longer." Reuters reports that the pledge Trump signed last September played a decisive role in gaining the trust of the Republican National Committee and his participation in the intra-party competition. Criticism, verbal attacks, and positions against this controversial figure have intensified in recent weeks, both within the Republican Party and among other politicians and activists in the United States. Recently, the competition and conflicts between Cruz and Trump have spilled into their personal lives. Ted Cruz accused Trump of being the creator of rumors about his "extramarital affairs." Trump tweeted a picture of Cruz's wife next to a photo of his own wife, humorously comparing the two women against Cruz's wife. During the CNN Q&A, Cruz also did not provide a clear answer regarding last year's pledge. He stated, "Let me tell you my solution. Donald will not be the Republican nominee. We will stop him." According to Reuters, Trump has also said he does not need Cruz's support. The third Republican candidate, John Kasich, has expressed concerns about some issues in the intra-party campaign and wants to see where the situation will lead.
