Donald Trump celebrated his 100th day in office as President of the United States with his supporters in Pennsylvania, an event that was marked by strong criticism of the mainstream media in America. On Saturday evening, April 29, when the White House Correspondents' Association was holding its annual dinner in Washington, Donald Trump, unlike previous U.S. presidents, did not attend the event and instead spoke to his supporters gathered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania: "There was nowhere else I would rather celebrate this 100-day event than Pennsylvania." According to a new poll from the University of Virginia, 93% of Trump voters still support the President. Trump continued, stating: "A lot of Hollywood actors and Washington media members are consoling each other in a hotel ballroom in our capital... They have gathered under the pretext of the White House Correspondents' Dinner, without the President. And I couldn't be happier to be a hundred miles away from that swamp in Washington and spending my evening with you, who are a much larger crowd and far better people." CNN reported that this is the first time in 36 years that a U.S. president has not attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Former President Ronald Reagan missed the dinner once because he was hospitalized, but even then he communicated with guests via phone. Media outlets like The New York Times have been repeatedly accused of bias against Trump and have faced severe criticism from Republicans and some media. Donald Trump accuses mainstream American media of distorting facts and undermining the government. He had emphasized since last March that he would not attend the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Instead of attending this dinner, Trump signed two more executive orders in Pennsylvania on Saturday, one of which orders a review of all U.S. trade agreements and the other establishes an office for trade and manufacturing policies.
