Trump's Lawyer Denies Former FBI Director's Allegations

Mark Kasowitz, Donald Trump's lawyer, has rejected the allegations made by James Comey, the ousted FBI director, against Mr. Trump. Mr. Kasowitz states that the President of the United States never intended for Mr. Comey to halt investigations regarding allegations of Russian interference in the U.S. elections. In Kasowitz's statement, it is mentioned that Comey's sharing of part of the conversation with Trump with a third party should itself be investigated as a disclosure of information. On June 7, Comey accused the Trump administration during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing of attempting to 'discredit' him with 'clear lies.' Comey stated that the President asked him to end the investigation into his former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, while also requesting Comey's 'loyalty.' Comey referred to a tweet from Trump suggesting that 'James Comey better hope there are no tapes of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press,' saying, 'I woke up Monday night, and I was thinking, there might be a tape.' The former FBI director added, 'And my conclusion was that I had to make the contents of this meeting public.' For this reason, he asked a friend, a professor at Columbia Law School, to make his notes about the meeting with Trump public. This part of Comey's statements has also caught the attention of Trump's lawyer. Fox News reported that Trump's lawyer intends to file a lawsuit against Comey for 'disclosing' information related to the conversation between the President and Comey and transferring it to his friend. However, Fox News states that it is unclear when Mark Kasowitz will file the complaint, but this indicates that Trump's team intends to take practical action following James Comey's statements in the Senate.
